ABOUT THE ORGANS SANTA CLARA The 3-manual 12-rank Wurlitzer
was originally installed at the Rudolph Wurlitzer Showroom in New York City. It
was relocated for a short time to a large home in Central New Jersey. It was
then purchased back by the Wurlitzer Foundation and reinstalled for the New York
World's fair of 1939-40. The instrument was placed in storage until 1945 when it
was again reinstalled in the Municipal Auditorium of Long Beach, CA. In 1967 the
organ was purchased by Bill Breuer and reinstalled in his Cap'ns Galley, Santa
Clara, CA. REDWOOD CITY The 4-manual 18- rank Wurlitzer was originally installed
in the Fifth Ave Theatre, Seattle, WA, where it was used regularly for
accompaniment for silent movies of the 1920's and early 30's. The instrument
then fell silent until it was purchased in 1969 by Mr. Breuer and installed at
his Cap'ns Galley, Redwood City, CA. CAMPBELL This organ was composed of both a
Robert Morton and a Wurlitzer totaling 3-manuals and 26-ranks. The basic organ
was a stock style Wurlitzer 260 built in 1927 and installed in the United
Artists Theatre, Los Angeles. The organ was then purchased, re-installed and
modified with the Robert Morton for the residence of Buddy Cole in 1959. After
Buddy's passing, the organ was sold and moved to Virginia. Unfortunate
circumstance prevented its installation and after a series of mishaps was placed
in storage, experiencing extensive damage. In 1970 the organ was purchased by
Bill Breuer and installed at the Cap'ns Galley, Campbell, CA.

Encouraged by his parents,
Jack began piano lessons at the age of eight. The organ drew interest in his
freshman year of high school. A Hammond organ had been installed in the assembly
hall and was played by the students for assemblies. Jack soon got back to
lessons, this time organ, and the next year was playing the Star Spangled Banner
for the students. His attention soon switched to the majestic sounds of the
theatre pipe organ. During his senior year, Jack helped install the 4-manual
12-rank Gottfreid Wurlitzer in the Elm Roller Rink, Elmhurst, IL. The management
was so taken by Jack's capability as an organist that they offered him the
position as resident organist. With left-over components, from the Roller Rink
installation, Jack began installing in his parents' home a 3-manual 8-rank
Wurlitzer Kimball. At the American Theatre Organ convention in Chicago, 1969,
Jack's pride and joy became the most popular instrument to be visited by the
conventioneers. The late Ben Hall named it "The Best in the Basement." After
years of vacation visits, Jack was swayed into a move to California in 1967.
Jack discovered the 3-manual 12-rank Wurlitzer in the Santa Clara Cap'ns Galley.
After auditioning for owner Bill Breuer Jack was offered a position as one of
the house organists.
